This training provides a comprehensive overview of basic electrical and pump system fundamentals. Participants will learn how to read electrical drawings, identify circuits, and locate fusing and breakers, along with understanding voltage concepts including single-phase and three-phase power and how they impact pump performance. The course covers incoming power components such as meters and disconnects, as well as key equipment including VFDs, soft starters, contactors, overloads, and capacitors. Attendees will gain practical knowledge of control panel operation, including interfaces, HMIs, alarm identification, troubleshooting, and reset procedures, along with an introduction to pump protection systems such as Minicas and Xylem controls, PLCs, relay logic, and intrinsically safe relays. Communication methods—including landline, cellular, and Ethernet—will be reviewed, along with auto dialers, cloud SCADA, and SCADA interface basics. Instrumentation topics include level measurement types (pressure, ultrasonic, and floats), how they function, common issues and fixes, float configurations (3, 4, or 5 float systems), and flow meters. Finally, participants will explore pump basics, including types, identification, typical installation and removal procedures, and essential maintenance tips.
