This course is intended for operator training and/or as preparation for the Manitoba Small Water Systems (SWS) Certification Exam. It was developed to be a more thorough review of the WT and WD components of the SWS exam and should be taken in conjunction with the regular Foundations course. Topics include: A very brief review of Foundations material, Hydrologic cycle, Ground water sources and retrieval, Water quality objectives and guidelines, Water treatment & demand, Disinfection, Distribution system purpose / design, Piping, Scaling and Corrosion control, Flushing, Hydrants/Valves/Service connections / Meters, Cross connection / Backflow prevention, Chlorination, Testing/Sampling, and Water treatment / distribution mathematical calculations.
