PUBLIC WORKS FOREMAN/WATER TREATMENT II

The Town of Powerview-Pine Falls is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong organizational and problem solving skills to fill the position of Public Works Foreman. This unionized position will be an integral part our succession planning as the Town moves forward and is responsible for the ongoing Public Works operations in collaboration with the Public Works Manager and Chief Administrative Officer. Ideally the candidate shall have a minimum of 3-5 years experience of municipal operations in a similar position, is self-motivated and mechanically inclined. Under the direction of the PW Manager, the Foreman responsibilities include but are not limited to: leading and supervising crews and encourage a safety culture; operating a variety of base equipment; maintain the water & wastewater networks and  infrastructure,   streets and sidewalks and various municipal building and equipment; assisting in the operation of a Class III 22.5 litre/sec Water Treatment Facility with a Class II Community Distribution System;

      QUALIFICATIONS:                                                        

  • Must be able to follow written/oral directions and possess good communication skills with other staff as well as the public.
  • A minimum of Grade Twelve education with a Certification in Manitoba Class II Water Treatment
  • Must be willing to obtain the following certifications within the first year of hire:
    • Water Distribution Class I
    • Wastewater Collection Class I
    • astewater Distribution Class I        
  • Must be willing to complete courses for continuing education/training.
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license with acceptable abstract and a clean Criminal Records Check, (Class 3A with air endorsement preferred).
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to operate computer and applicable software.
  • Bilingual communication skills are considered an asset
