Managing People - Virtual Classroom

This course will be presented by our training partner BCWWA

January 24 - 28, 2022 (5 Days) 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Daily (CST)

CEU Credits: 3.0

Registration Deadline: January 17, 2022

Class Format

Virtual classes are offered in real time with a live instructor. When you are part of a virtual class, your instructor is able to provide the interactive classroom experience from your own computer. You can participate in discussions, test your knowledge and ask questions, just like in a regular classroom. These classes run similarly to a live class and are a great option for those people interested in completing their training in a typical timeframe.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, you will be able to:
  • Understand alternative problem solving strategies, and how to apply these appropriately in a supervisory or management role.
  • Assess your leadership style, understand alternative leadership approaches, and understand and apply essential management skills including time management, conflict resolution, coaching, and the role of leaders.
  • Conduct effective meetings including creating an agenda, managing conflict, building agreement, and making decisions.
  • Understand how to effectively manage communications with peers, direct reports and senior managers.
  • Understand business systems such as asset management, information management and privacy protection.
  • Understand Employment Standards Act concepts, collective agreements, and how to manage in a unionized work environment.
  • Effectively supervise staff and conduct performance evaluations.

Who Should Attend

You should take this course if you:

  • Were recently promoted into a supervisory or management role;
  • Are interested in pursuing a supervisory or management role in the future;
  • Want to "brush-up" your management skills or take them to the next level; or
  • Require continuing education units (CEUs) to maintain your Operator Certification.

        All attendees must have their own computer with audio and video capabilities to participate.
