08:45A.M. – 9:15               IDENTIFICATION OF WATER METERING ISSUES

·       Group discussion about complaints and operational concerns

9:15 A.M. – 10:30               CUSTOMER METERING CHALLENGES

·       Meter reading under-registration and how it affects revenue generation

·       Estimated, missed and incorrect readings

·       Visual reading, touch pad reading

·       Meter verification/ calibration

·       Repair – wearable parts, recondition

·       Record keeping – regulatory requirements

 

10:30  – 10:45                BREAK

10:45  – 12:30                  CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE

·       Review pro-active programs including other service response protocols

·       Scenarios involving the resolution of water metering issues

WORKSHOP 

·       In groups of 3 – 4 people, an issue will be examined and the proper response protocol to that issue will be identified.

·       Group presentations

1 PM - 2:30 pm                   HANDS-ON PRACTICAL COMPONENT

 

HOW TO READ A METER

 

·       Understanding meter readings

·       Quantity calculations

·       Meter multipliers – verification and understanding what it is

·       Data interpretation – reading billing history and trends, etc.

 

 

ON-SITE METER READING

 

·       Touch pad operation

·       Environmental considerations

·       Proper documentation

·       Reading issues

·       Fault finding and demonstrations

 

 2:30 – 2:45                      BREAK

 

2:45  – 4:15 pm                  AMR (AUTOMATIC METER READING)

 

·       The future is AMR and AMI

·       Understanding how the readings are taken and processed

·       AMI - Advanced Metering Infrastructure is an integrated system of meters, communications networks, and data management systems that enables two-way communication between utilities and customers.

·       ICI Meters

 

 

WORKSHOP (Groups of 3 – 4)

 

·       Reading issues

·       Identification

·       Problem solving

·       Review and presentations

 

4:15 - 4:30 pm                     Review and test

Participants in this workshop are eligible for 0.7 CEUs under the Manitoba Operator Certification program.
