Water & Wastewater Operator
The Town of Lafleche is seeking applications for the permanent, full-time position of Water Treatment, Distribution and Wastewater Operator. This operator will ensure that all water and wastewater treatment and distribution complies with the Permits to Operate and Drinking Water Quality Management guidelines. This operator will also responsible for submitting all required reports in accordance with the provincial regulations and acts as a direct liaison with the Water Security Agency.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate must possess a Class 3 Water Treatment, Class 1 Water Distribution and Class 1 Wastewater Collection and Treatment. An applicant with a Class 2 Water Treatment, working towards a Class 3 may be accepted. The candidate should also be able to perform heavy manual labor.
The applicant should have experience in the functions and operations of a water treatment plant and wastewater collection and discharge. A minimum of 5 years experience as an operator in a treatment plant is an asset. Any operational experience in RO and UF filtration would also be an asset.
Duties & Responsibilities
Regular operations include all points of water production, treatment, storage, instrumentation and control operations of a Class 3 water treatment and Class 1 water distribution, in a newly upgraded facility. In addition, this operator will be required to schedule and oversee the casual, weekend operators; be responsible for all chemical and parts inventory and ordering, monitoring expenditures and assisting with the annual budget; and be responsible for all maintenance, repairs and cleanliness of the plant. Continuously reviewing and creating policies and procedures for the upgrade will be required.
The Town of Lafleche offers competitive wages and benefits. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience, however the starting wage for a certified Class 3 begins at $40.00 per hour. This position is full time, 40 hours per week. The applicant should also be willing to work a casual weekend rotation where necessary. The Town will assist in training costs associated with the applicant maintaining the required continuing education units and certification renewals.
